Cats and Puppies
Let me make something's clear to you canines. Felines are superior specie in the jungle hierarchy and that is why canines will be represented by us. Cats are leaders and dogs are followers. That does not mean I shall not be sympathetic to your dog bone causes. You shall be fairly represented and don't forget to do our bidding.

Cats Lead - Dogs follow. In historical times we sat next to emperors and gods.
We love all creatures big and small. Save the wild and tamed both. Homo sapiens have yet to learn a lot from us

Cats and Puppies
Allow me to tell you a bit about myself. I was rescued from a shelter two years ago. I often wondered if life was better off being dead as I was caged in a two by two cell and put on display daily. Before arriving at the shelterI am Christie and a very happy cat and rule where I live. I have found a kind house. I had a home but never the less was abused by my cohabitants in the house i.e. humans. I bore a litter of kittens but my story becomes sadder after I became pregnant. A few weeks before I was due to deliver I was abandoned. The people with whom I lived did not want to have anything to do with me. I was to be rescued by some animal lover.

After giving birth I was neutered and my kittens taken away from me. Talk about postpartum depression and the shock of my own offspring's being snatched away and yet to add shock to my plight, the pain of being neutered and put in a cage like a circus animal. Daily people would come to look at me, poke me, and those brats you call kids would even antagonize me. Sigh so was life.

I developed a fondness with one of the volunteers at the shelter and she developed affinity for me. Dawn was kind but we both knew that one day I will be given away to someone for the volunteers were actively looking for a home for me. She would even take me home to sleep on her bed and that was such a wonderful treat and something I looked forward to.

Did I tell you I was only a year and a half old when I landed in the shelter. I was scared out of my wits. Physical abuse from my previous owners had totally shaken my confidence in humans. Any hand approaching me would make me shudder for I associated a hand with aggression and something that is used to hit me or throw things at me to hurt me. I was afraid to even meow.

I was glad that at least I was getting fed, though the food was not necessarily to my liking, but I guess whatever was on sale and cheap was given to me. Most of the days were spent trying to block out denoise and defunk of all the people. Some did find me cute but never had the desire to adopt me.

One afternoon a lady appeared from nowhere, she had a soft soothing cooing voice. I half opened my eyes to see who this one was, for I had been cooed and pooed and poked before by all the visitors. For them it was going to the zoo and it was a matter of my future for me. Any way back to this lady, who had kind eyes and a softness in her eyes, also did what all other humans have the itch to do. I saw her finger gently reaching toward me through the cage door as she gently stroked my paw. I also noticed that Dawn was watching this interaction and walked up to stand next to this lady, as she spelt out my curriculum vitae.

I moved back into my two by two cage but she still reached to touch  me and this timeI am resting in my window seat. When I have that look that means do not disturb me. I bit her without drawing blood and her hand retreated, I was trying to send her the message that. " listen human the mere fact that I am in a cage does not make me a toy, so treat me with respect and enough of your petting". Dawn said,  that was the worst thing I could to do and it will me not bode well with you Christie. I rolled my eyes and feigned sleep.

Amazingly the lady came back again the next day and filled out a form and two days later Dawn put me in a Sherpa and boarded a cab and off we were to where? My heart pounded with the speed of the turning cab wheels. All my fears were back and so were my insecurities and fears.

She carried me to my new home and opened the zipper. I was terrified as I leapt out of the Sherpa. The rest is history. I was afraid for about a year, but my new home has been a heaven for me and I am very lucky.

I hope y'all kittens and puppies are equally lucky. Write to me and I shall help you with a resolution. Also don't forget the first rule that you have to manipulate humans but be kind at the same time. Now its my rest time so don't bug me for the next eight hours.

Now I go on air trips with them and they don't even put me in the hold, I sit with them in the cabin. The bad thing is the Airlines do not serve snacks to pets in the cabin. But my companions sneak me snacks they especially carry for me in her pocket book and him in his pockets. Now all you novices out there, that is what you call training the people you live with.

Another tip for traveling pets. Stay aloof with strangers and pretend you are a seasoned traveler. Puppies and dogs, stop drooling. You folks are  kind of embarrassing the way you wag your tails. I hate animals that are fat like their owners.

Golly cats, puppies and poodles have you ever seen a fat animal in the jungle. Fat ones get eaten in the jungle by hyenas. I don't have much advice to give to gerbils or rodents, licking my chops, but don't worry I shall protect your rights too.

December 22nd, 2004  New York to Appleton by Air
I arrived in Appleton by air. I traveled economy and yes I was in the cabin, unlike the big dogs who must travel in the hold of the airplane. I was a paying pet. There are no free lunches in life. The sad part of it is while the airline served drinks and snacks to every human passenger, I was not served anything. Continental Airlines ignored me and so did Northwest. I meow discrimination ... if I am being charged airfare I need to be fed by airlines.

When I get back to New York, I fully intend writing to the CEO's of both these airlines. I will post my letter here to the CEO and their reply. So you pet out there stay tuned and then I shall give you my suggestions on which airlines to travel on. My hosts picked me and I love racing through their house. I think I will have to curtail my racing through the spacious house till the other pets arrive. I have marked all the furniture. I know one of the pets is my cousin dog. A very sweet dog according to humans. Even if I like him I am not going to confess about my like for him, for that would tantamount to betraying the feline kingdom. He does give me my space but the darn mutt has a taste for feline food.

Never the less I traveled with an attitude, and calm self assured confidence. While other humans oohed and 'poogled' over me I stayed aloof. I am composing my letter to Northwest Airlines and Continental about serving food to traveling pets. My meal of choice would be Tuna.
