Lebanon, Israel, HizbAllah, Hammas and human suffering
We shall be watching the pain and sufferings for both the Israeli's and
Lebanese not to mention the Palestinians. One wonders why world powers that
can make a difference are sitting back and watching the war escalate. Lots
of innocent people are being affected on all fronts. One wonders if Ehud
Olmert current Prime Minister of Israel is trying to stabilize his own political career at the cost of human lives
by going to war. Olmert's silent message being that he can be tough. Israel
has a history of abducting people from all around the world with impunity so
that they could be tried in Israeli courts. While HizbAllahs action cannot
be forgiven, but the reaction and response is disproportionate. One ponders
if this conflict could had been avoided with diplomacy. Give peace a chance.

How refreshing that 88 % of young Americans do not know .....
National Geographic conducted a survey whose results are heart breaking.
Is it a reflection on our education system or our ignorance about the world
yet we want to act as big dogs. We have poured billions in fighting in
Afghanistan yet 88 percent of young Americans do not know where Afghanistan
is on the map. The money we spent in Afghanistan would had been well spent
educating our young with the hope, future diplomacy will be given a
better chance and young Americans will know that we are not alone on this
planet but we co-exist on this planet called earth. That is why we need to
sign the Kyoto treaty and NPT.
Happy Birthday Mr. President. You look very fit, and youthful.

Dead at 64
Did Enron victims wake with relief to the news that Kenny had died
before being sentenced? May he rest in peace as others gather pieces
of their life, poor victims of Enron. Having said the human thing and
expressed sympathy upon his death, SW wonders, did Kenny die of guilt, or
innocence? Both equally brutal, for if one is guilty and knows about it, may
die of shame and if one is innocent and found guilty may die of injustice
and shame, not to mention heart break. Good name means a lot. "Good
name in man and woman, dear lord, Is the immediate jewel of their souls:
.............. he who filches from me my good name, Robs me of that
which does not enriches him, And makes me poor indeed." ( Shakespear
- Othello ).
Did Kenny died a poor man? His poverty was as acute as not being able to own
a private jet and having to hide his loot. He freely invoked the name
of God after his conviction. Wonder if he is better off dying before the
sentencing with prospect of life in jail. Did he cheat punishment or "Enroned"
his sentencing by dying and walking into eternity, with the hope his lord
will grant him a peace of heaven. What happens when Kenny asks for God at
the pearly gates and St. Pete or whoever guards the gate says, " dude you
have been Enroned in heaven, you really think there is a heaven", and a
cosmic laughter echoes. Are you accusing us of being irreverent .... of
course nothing is sacred on the street. Our hearts still go to the victims
of Enron, wonder why they kept their eyes closed for so long?

Independence Day
The whole nation celebrated Independence Day today. The Macy's
Firworks in New York City were spectacular. However while watching the
fireworks and being grateful for our freedoms, the nagging thought of how
long would nature indulge us in our callous disregard for the environment,
was a constantly nagging theme. Watching the movie "An
Inconvenient Truth brought it all home. We strongly encourage any one
with the courage to see reality and realize the consequences of our greed
with events to come, will be frightened like us. We strongly recommend
that everyone see this movie and then pause and think ...........

Happy Independence day to all.

and Lesbians Parade - New York City
Politicians Liberals or lesbians, Democrats or demagogues, Republicans or
renegades were very visible in the Parade. Weather they believe in the
rights of gays or not, it was an opportunity for the politicos to be seen.
 The
stage was right, and so was the limelight of the event, which the rain could
not even tarnish. People were ready with their cameras and umbrellas and all
Press agency photographers and Television media were snapping up
photographs like some hungry automatons. The colors reflected in the rain
washed the streets as people cheered on. The Parade has become more of a
fashion show then anything else. Someone remarked on the street, " what are
they marching for". Men dressed as women does that mean men can be peacocks
too? Politicians walking shoulder to shoulder with the gay community was an
affirmation that being gay was no aberration...... but how they vote in the
congress or Senate is different ball game.
